London 2012 Chinese Art Exhibition: Art Link to the World
Art Exchange VOL.03/2012|

From July 30 till August 6, Art Link to the World London 2012 Chinese Art Exhibition, sponsored by Chinese National Academy of Arts and China Arts Foundation and undertaken by Shanghai Yonghua Times Art Agency, took place in British Royal Academy of Art. In line with the tradition and integrated with modernity, Chinese fine arts, through thousands of years’ evolution, have formed unique oriental attraction and become global focus. Along with over 170 artworks by 61 top Chinese artists, this exhibition showcased the tradition of five thousand years’ civilization and modern trend with three categories of Chinese traditional painting, oil painting and sculpture. In this exhibition, one can read through oriental culture from global art perspective and witness Chinese artistic essence out of cultural collision between East and West.

In this exhibition, one can appreciate the perfect combination of Chinese art tradition and western painting skill and that of elaborate and freehand brushwork from Liu Dawei’s works, or admire the contemporary integration with traditional fine painting details from He Jiaying’s. One may prefer the simple but imaginative landscape in Tian Liming’s ink and brush or favor Wu Weishan’s sophisticated sculpture imbued with free spirits. From Nan Xi’s 3D painting with ink and brush style, one can realize his interest in ancient elegance and pursuit for Chinese vision through imagination; while Yang Feiyun highlights his persistence in classic approach and aesthetic reflection of humanism. All their works come down with the time-honored traditional Chinese philosophy and rise up with modern art language, which emphasizes both formation and connotation.
