SINGAPORE - The China-produced 3-D animation Legend of a Rabbit has won the Perron of Crystal Award in the feature CGI category at the 4th 3D Stereo Media Film Festival (3-6 Dec) in Liège, Belgium.
Directed by SUN Lijun, the animation opened in China in July 2011 and has since been released theatrically in Singapore, Thailand and South Korea within Asia. It has sold to 80 territories worldwide.
The 3-D festival judged the English-langauge of the film, Legend of Kung Fu Rabbit with a voice cast that includes Tom Arnold and Michael Clarke Duncan that was picked up by Grindstone Entertainment Group for North America.In its category, Rabbit was competing against Frantisek A. Brabec's The Magical Duvet from the Czech Republic and The District 8D from Hungary, directed by Eric Novák and Aron Gauder.
One other Asian film competed, Hong Kong short China Cup, in the Alternative Content section. It was directed by James CHOO, who previously directed Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf - The Super Adventure (2008).Rabbit is produced by Tianjin North Film Group, which is preparing the sequel for a 2014 release.
