During this tour, CNSO not only performed the grand works such as No. 7 Symphony of Beethoven, No. 2 Symphony of Rachmaninoff and Richard Strauss’ tone poem Ein Heldenleben, but also Piano Concerto No. 1 of Tchaikovsky, Violin Concerto of Sibelius, Violin Concerto of Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai, Violin Concerto of Korngold, Piano Concerto of Yellow River and new symphony works such as the First Chapter of Guan Xia’s The Requiem of Land.
All the concert halls and theaters where CNSO performed were the important stages on which the world and American first-class symphony orchestras and artists performed in succession, not only including the modern luxury concert halls such as Strathmore Music Center in Washington DC and Kauffman Center for Preforming Arts in Kansas City, Missouri, but also Concert Hall in Worcester, Massachusetts, the traditional concert hall with 153 years’ history. All the CNSO’s concerts were included into the arrangement of music season of these concert halls and theaters.
During this largest-scale touring commercial performances in history jointly organized by CNSO, CAEG and CPMC, the most powerful company in this field, CNSO came to experience the professional vision and the unique organizing capability of CPMC through the touring performances all along. CNSO had the touring performance in Europe, American continents, Asia and Australia. This tour was the third in the wake of performances in 1987 and 2006 in USA. During this purely commercial performances, CNSO’s 30 concerts were purchased by CPMC which distributed them to 29 concert halls and theaters, rather than that CNSO itself rented the place regardless of box office. As early as half a year prior to the tour, the box office achieved a good result of sales. Through this tour, CNSO has promoted the orchestra to be of great professional quality that meets the requirements of western performing market with the outstanding competitiveness. Moreover, this tour has inspired a new pattern of commercial performances for the cultural strategy of “Going Global” with some creative ideas.
