The classic fairy tale The Wizard of OZ by American writer Frank Baum has been constantly adapted into animations, games and films of different versions, but it seldom appears in a puppet performance on domestic stage. On July 29 and 30, the puppet fairy theatre The Wizard of OZ by Children’s Art Theatre of Chengdu City was staged in the 7th China Children’s Theatre Festival (CCTF). With delicate puppets and stage narration in a cinematographic way, this play set off on exploration with those young audiences. This classic fairy tale is a story of a girl named Dorothy who was lost and tried to find her way home. With mutual assistance from and the company of Scarecrow who had no brains, Tin Woodman who had no heart and Lion who lacked courage, she finally returned home. Integrating such good virtues as wisdom, courage, affection and friendship into the plot, this fairy tale spread seed of love in every kid’s heart.
